What sort of films would you show at the Harborough Screen?

Obviously this isn’t a list of films that will be showing the week the cinema opens – as that programme will depend a great deal on what films have recently opened.  However this selection will give you an idea of the sort of films we are likely to be showing at the Harborough Screen if it was open in the town in May of 2010.

New Movies. Each day there will be 2 main films showing.  These will be recent box office hits, award winning films that a great but haven’t received a big audience, family movies or others films that we think will g down well in the town.  Based on films that are out at the moment, these are the sorts of films that we would be showing in May 2010.

• Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (Family comedy starring Emma Thompson)
• The Ghost (Political thriller starring Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan)
• The Blind Side (Oscar winning real life story starring Sandra Bullock)
• Kick Ass (quirky take on superhero movies)
• How to Train your Dragon (Computer animated fantasy adventure)
• Iron Man II (Current box office number 1 – the superhero follow up starring Robert Downey Jr)
• Invictus (Morgan Freeman plays Nelson Mandela in Clint Eastwood’s latest)

Afternoon Screenings.  During the week and at weekends in the early afternoon there will be a selection of classics and family films suitable for a mix of young children .  These are films that look great on the big screen and will be shown at reduced prices. There will also be films aimed at an older audience and special baby friendly screenings. A tiny selection will  be:

• Forest Gump (Tom Hanks stars in Oscar winning tale of a simple man’s life)
• Casablanca (Classic starring Bogart & Bergman)
• Notes on a Scandal (Judi Dench stars with Bill Nighy
• Ice Age III (Computer animated sequel)
• The Shawshank Redemption (Tim Robbins is sent to prison for a crime he didn’t commit)
• Double Indemnity (Billy Wilder’s classic film noir)
• Cinema Paradiso (Film maker recalls his childhood)
• Toy Story (Computer animated toys come alive)

Movie Seasons. In addition there would be seasons of films – James Bond season, Hitchcock season, Julia Roberts season, musicals season, Oscar winners season, Christmas movies  etc which would run over a month.

Films would be listed on our Harborough Screen website from which you will be able to book tickets, read reviews and see screening times.  Films coming for the following month will also be listed on the site.

Members will be able to vote for particular favourites they would like to see and if they get enough votes, we will put those films on.

Hope this gives you an idea of the sort of films and variety of films we are hoping to screen at the Harborough Screen.
