The structural engineer David House has been assessing the Harborough Screen unit in storage and the site where it will be moved to. We are looking forward to his report in the next few days which will explain just how deep the foundation need to be and any other problems that we may need to consider.
Construction of the foundations of the Harborough Screen moves ever closer as the structural Engineer has visited the site and given his expert opinion on the type of foundations required to house the Screen Machine unit.
It is with great delight and excitement that we can announce that Planning Permission was approved by the Town Planning Committee at their regular meeting yesterday evening. This means that the cinema is coming and will be next to Harborough Town FC who have very kindly let us use a piece of land by their clubhouse, as well as giving us access to their facilities.
We are now moving to the next stage of the project, which will be preparing the ground before bringing the unit to site and starting the refurbishment. We have had the opportunity to inspect the interior on the screen machine. Much of it is still folded up so there is a limited amount we can tell but everything is looking well. at the moment
The Screen Machine has now been transported down from Arbroath in Scotland to just outside of Market Harborough. It is now being stored in this ‘secret’ location until we are able to obtain planning permission from the council. As soon as this is obtained we hope to move it onto the location beside the Harborough Town Footbal Club where renovation and refurbishment can start.
