Local cinema expert Dion Hanson has been helping out at the site where the Harborough Screen is being refurbished. After several visits and modifications he has been able to restore the units Dolby Sound system to it full glory.
This means that we will be able to carry out a full sound test to determin how sound proof the the unit is. It also means that future cinema goers can enjoy the films with breathtaking Dolby 5.1. Thanks Dion for all you help.

The cinema unit has now been successfully moved to near Wellingborough where internal and external refurbishment has begun. Whilst it is in storage here the outside will be repainted, the Harborough Screen logo added and the main seating area cleaned and revamped. The good news is that when the unit was opened up that the electrics were found to be in good order as was the sound system. The roof has also been recovered to ensure that it remains watertight in all conditions.

I’m delighted that the Harborough Movie Makers were present to capture the moment when construction started on the Harborough Screen. The first phase was to clear the ground and Colin Sulivan was there to capture both the construction and HFM’s interview with Lucy Seaward. They have put together this short video to show the start of construction that took place last Thursday.
To see the clip click here.
Thanks to Nic from HFM for allowing us to use his sound recordings of the interviews.
There will be further updates on progress in these news pages.

Yesterday (Thursday 24th February) the construction side of the project started in earnest. The site that will house the cinema which is behind Harborough Town Football Club was cleared. This means that an accurate layout of the unit can be laid down on the flattened ground.
The next stage will be to dige 4 holes for the foundatation which need to be cured for 2 weeks before the unit can be towed onto the site. In the meantime a range of activity will be taking place from choosing the fabrics for the seats to laying out detailed plans for the surrounding slabbed area.
A huge thanks to Rob who moved the earth for us – an event which was recorded by Harborough Film-makers, The Harborough Mail, the Leicester Mercury, HFM and BBC Radio Leicester.
